The Indian Pariah Dog (also called the Desi Dog or Indie) is one of the oldest dog breeds in the world, with genetic evidence dating back 4,500+ years. It is the original free-ranging dog of the Indian subcontinent.
- Natural scavenger and community dog. No human-guided selective breeding — shaped entirely by natural selection for survival in the Indian climate.
- Gaining recognition globally as a "natural breed" of exceptional genetic health. Research at CCMB Hyderabad has confirmed the breed's ancient lineage.
- The most common dog in India by far — tens of millions roam freely. Increasingly adopted as pets by urban Indians.
